MUCHIEES-R-US: The Origin Story

MUCHIEES-R-US is more than just a restaurant—it’s the embodiment of a culinary legacy that began with Boyce Mitchell Sr. of North Little Rock, Arkansas. Born with a passion for cooking, Boyce Sr. embarked on his culinary journey at the young age of 12, working as a cook at Hudson's Catfish on Clover Street in North Little Rock. It was there that he honed his skills in cooking and butchering, learning the craft that would one day inspire a family tradition.

As he grew older, Boyce Sr. played a pivotal role in launching 'Young's Catfish,' a staple in Central Arkansas known for its authentic Southern flavors. His oldest son, Boyce Jr., would often join him in the kitchen during visits, soaking in the secrets of seasoning, grilling, and the joy of serving good food to the community. Boyce Sr.'s signature fish batter, still sold in stores today, became a testament to his culinary expertise.

Boyce Sr.'s journey continued even after receiving full-term disability from the U.S. Army. Determined to keep his love for cooking alive, he purchased the very grill that is now the heart of MUCHIEES-R-US. His legacy of smoking and grilling meat, alongside perfecting Southern dishes, was passed down to Boyce Jr., who embraced the craft with the same passion his father had.

The flavors of MUCHIEES-R-US are further enriched by the influence of Boyce Jr.'s mother, Mrs. Candace "Ms. Yams" Thompson, whose family roots trace back to College Station, Arkansas, and the banks of the Atchafalaya River in Louisiana. The blend of Creole and Native dishes reflects the deep Southern heritage and the traditions passed down through generations.

MUCHIEES-R-US is a celebration of family, flavor, and a 35-year tradition of quality smoked meats and soul food, crafted with love and seasoned with history.
